Yes! We hear you calling! …Or maybe it’s the loons we hear. Regardless, whether it’s the loons calling or the lapping water along the shore’s edge, it’s a beautiful sound, and one that we hope everyone gets to experience.

Wait! Is Toddy Pond a lake, or a pond? Well, according to Maine.gov, there is no exact technical distinction between the two. One traditional difference is that sunlight can penetrate to the bottom of all areas of a pond, as opposed to lakes, that tend to be deeper and darker.

So if that’s the case, our beloved Toddy Pond, which is 8 miles long with a maximum depth of about 120 feet, is technically a lake. So, apparently, it’s a lake and a pond! Perfect!

We bet you won’t be surprised to hear that there is a positive impact on our mental health by being near water? We can attest to that! Spending time on a lake calms our minds and souls, time seems to slow down, and a feeling of contentment settles in.

Imagine this! You wake up to an early morning swim, a peaceful kayak ride, or just sit on the dock (or in the hammock!) and listen to nature all around you – it’s pure bliss. You stop checking the time, checking your email, and instead enjoy exploring, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, fishing, grilling, chatting, laughing, and enjoying being alive and with people you love.

When you vacation on a lake, there’s something so magical about it – for all ages, and especially for children. Some of our happiest memories as kids, on Toddy, were at camp, following the path through the woods to our “secret” swimming spot, fishing, canoeing, eating lunch on the dock, and just letting the day unfold and flow, without any plans.
